Adaptive Line Enhancement Using a Parallel IIR Filter with A Step-By-step Algorithm

A step-by-step algorithm for enhancement of periodic signals that are highly corrupted by additive uncorrelated white gausian noise is proposed. In each adaptation step a new parallel second-order section is added to the previous filters. Every section has only one adjustable parameter, i.e., the center frequency of the self-tuning filter. The bandwidth and the convergence factor of each secti...

IIR System Identification Using Improved Harmony Search Algorithm with Chaos

Due to the fact that the error surface of adaptive infinite impulse response (IIR) systems is generally nonlinear and multimodal, the conventional derivative based techniques fail when used in adaptive identification of such systems. In this case, global optimization techniques are required in order to avoid the local minima. Harmony search (HS), a musical inspired metaheuristic, is a recently ...

Existence of stationary points for reduced-order hyperstable adaptive IIR filters

We establish existence of asymptotic stationary points for a class of adaptive IIR filtering algorithms, including (S)HARF, the Feintuch algorithm, and Landau’s algorithm, for reduced-order cases. We show first that the nonlinear equations characterizing a stationary point admit a solution giving rise to a stable transfer function, when the input is white noise. We then show that an analytic pr...

New Subband Adaptive IIR Filter Based On Polyphase Decomposition

Abstract—We present a subband adaptive infinite-impulse response (IIR) filtering method, which is based on a polyphase decomposition of IIR filter. Motivated by the fact that the polyphase structure has benefits in terms of convergence rate and stability, we introduce the polyphase decomposition to subband IIR filtering, i.e., in each subband high order IIR filter is decomposed into polyphase I...

Blind Intrinsically-Stable 2-Pole IIR Filtering

The aim of this Letter is to present a preliminary study on intrinsicallystable discrete-time 2-pole IIR adaptive filtering for blind equalization based on minimum-entropy deconvolution. The structural-adapting theory is developed and numerical experimental results are discussed which illustrate the soundness of the proposed theory: The adaptive filter keeps stable and good deconvolution result...
